Sound Files
To make reviewing spellings easier for you, we have provided a large set of over 4000 sound files for a huge range of spellings, including high frequency words and other more complicated spellings.
Many different approaches are taken to the teaching of spelling and the order in which words are presented. For this reason the sound files are primarily presented in alphabetical order, which enables the user to pick those that are relevant. Each sound file can be downloaded on its own.
These sound files are provided free of charge by CALSC - Communication and Learning Skills Centre www.calsc.co.uk for personal and educational use. Permission is not granted for use of these sound files on commercial terms other than as may be agreed with CALSC. Permission is not granted for any sound file found at timelyreminders.co.uk to be stored on any other internet website or server.

These sound files are compatible with software that is available at http://www.timelyreminders.co.uk/. The Timely Reminders software allows its Users to make up questions and answers and to review them at increasing intervals of time until recall of the answers is automatic.
For example, Timely Reminders is able to play a sound file so that the User can listen to it, type in the spelling of the word and have the answer marked. Timely Reminders will then present the Question again after a day, 2 days, 1 week, 1 month, six months and finally a year later to check that the spelling can still be remembered and relearned if necessary.

In order to download a sound file from this website:
1 Navigate to the file using the tabs and links below
2 Right-click the link
3 Select the "save target as" option.
Using a sound file in Timely Reminders
If you intend to use the file in the Timely Reminders software the file will need to be stored in the media folder. This can normally be found at
C:\Program Files\CALSC\Timely Reminders\Media\
(assuming the default options have been chosen when installing the Timely Reminders program). It may be helpful to copy this down before downloading a sound file.
It is strongly recommended that folders are set up underneath the Media folder for each letter of the alphabet to allow files to be found quickly and efficiently. For example, bed.wav may saved to
C:\Program Files\CALSC\Timely Reminders\Media\B\bed.wav
if the "\B" folder is set up in advance.
